Digital Collage

April 27 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

We live in a digital world. 💻 🖥️ 📱

Surrounded by phones, computers, televisions… but also increasingly internet-connected smart devices, IoT, and artificial intelligence.

Digital technology has hidden impact.

Out of sight, out of mind.
While all sectors need to reduce their emissions, the tech sector’s carbon footprint is BALLOONING! 🎈📈
The impacts of digital technology are not seen or felt by us, the users. We are quite literally separated from the impacts by our screens…
So let’s change that and learn about the whole supply chain and the supporting infrastructure.

Tech has positives and negatives: We need to know both!

This is not a workshop for bashing tech. We are going to learn the impacts so we can make informed plans and decisions about how we want to engage with technology.

Understand new concepts and how they apply to tech.

New concepts to meet and understand:
– Jevon’s Paradox and rebound effects.
– Technical and psychological obsolesence.
– The whole life cycle and supply chain of tech.
– Ecological backpacks.
– Ore concentrations and resource scarcity.

Get the answers on what-to-do! 🧭 🦸🏻‍♂️

We end the workshop exploring solutions cards — ready-to-go ideas about what can be done to rebalance the scales of impact versus reward.

Build a plan with your fellow players 👏🏻 ✅

You will come away with meaningful and manageable next steps, plus an understanding of the direction that the digital world needs to move in.
You’ll also have met inspirational change-makers from around the world who are your future allies on the path to balance.
