Community Climate Action Workshop in Stroud

Workshop Details

Climate Clarity invites you to join a workshop to experience the Climate Fresk.

What? A full Climate Fresk workshop for you to sample.

In the space of 3 hours, we will:

  • Play a card game in groups to learn about the systems of climate change;
  • Debrief on how the information affects us; and
  • Brainstorm creative ways to engage with the issue within your sphere of influence.

This game-based workshop has been played by over 400,000 people worldwide – it has swept Europe and is now starting to arrive in the UK. People across all industries are getting ready for a future that’s not far off in the distance, it’s already here. Will you be among the trailblazers for an efficient climate transition or will you be left in the dust?

When and where?  2-5pm, Saturday 10th September 2022, Nailsworth Library, Nailsworth, Stroud

Cost? Free

What do I need to bring? No materials or level of understanding required. An open mind and a willingness to play along in a cooperative game are optional, but they are desirable.

Why should I trust this game?

The content of the workshop is based on the most recent IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report that outlines the state of our changing planet, as the top scientists in the world understand it.

The Fresk takes the key points from the 1300-page IPCC report and puts them into a card game that anyone can play. It aims to convey the information as it stands, with no political agenda or bias.

We present the science. What it means and what you want to do about it is down to you.

Don’t just take it from us…

Faith, massage therapist, 27:

‘I came into the workshop thinking I already knew a lot about climate change, but I ended up learning a fair amount of new stuff. The facilitators did a great job of guiding us towards the right answers and they were really patient when I didn’t quite get something! I liked the level it was pitched at: it was simple enough to follow but also challenging and new.

One of the best things about it was the energy in the room. You could tell everyone cared and wanted to work together to find out what we could do. It was sort of electric and exciting.

I met some cool people involved in climate-related projects in Bristol I hadn’t heard of and got a few people’s numbers. Everyone brought their own experience and expertise, so we were learning from each other as well. The game itself was actually pretty fun, even though the material is somewhat bleak!’

Hope to see you there!
