SUMMARY:Adapting to Climate Change
DESCRIPTION:Adaptation is overdue\nClimate change mitigation gets a lot of attention\, but the impacts of climate change are already here and will continue to worsen. So we must adapt to deal with the consequences of climate change. \nNew strategies need new thinking\nAs we get out of the pure mindset of “how do we reduce GHG emissions?” to start including “how do we deal with the impacts of climate breakdown?” we will have to learn new ways to think. \nNew tools for thinking\nBuilding a common language and breaking down abstract concepts to build distinction in risks will help us make plans that are effective and open new possibilities.\nThis workshop teaches a framework to make better decisions. \nWhat we will do:\n\nLearn to define and understands risk\, exposure\, vulnerability\, adaptation\, maladaptation.\nDiscover the reasons why adaptation is critical.\nLearn a framework to make better choices to avoid maladaptation and maximise co-benefits.\nYou will learn about planning pathways for adaptation towards transformative\, long-term solutions.\nWhen you have grasped the framework\, we will apply it to examples relevant to you.\n\nWhat we will not do:\n\nLearn specific adaptation strategies and methods. (You will not have new strategies to flood-proof your house by the end)\n\nLearn more about the workshop here.
